Lovingly referred to as Frances sunshine playground, the southern regions of France are home to a wide variety of top tourist destinations. In the west of the region is Languedoc Roussillion, which is bordered by the Pyrenees, Andorra and Spain. To the east is Provence-Cote dAzur, which stretches right along the coast from Italy to Marseilles, and up to the north of Haute-Alpes. The Cote dAzur is a string of top seaside resorts, beaches and marinas. With such a broad range of landscapes, cultures and attractions, the south of France has proved to be a popular holiday destination all year-round.
Everyday life in Languedoc Roussillon is a very laid-back affair thanks in part to its sunny and dry Mediterranean climate. Littered with charming seaside towns and ports, the relaxed beach lifestyle enjoyed by the locals is an attractive prospect to any would-be holidaymaker. The strong Catalonian influence present in the local architecture, be it medieval castles, Greek ruins and ancient monuments, makes Languedoc Roussillon an ideal destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Frances rich cultural heritage. Major towns and cities in the region include Montpellier, Perpignan and Nimes. The picturesque coastlines give way to rugged mountains and plateaus, where youll find dozens of the countries top vineyards; making it the largest wine producing area in Europe. Visitors can also enjoy the regions fabulous Mediterranean cuisine, with local delicacies rich the aromatic herbs and delicious olive oil.
Provence lies in the far south of France and is an area steeped in romance, history and outstanding natural beauty. The region boasts a fantastic warm, dry climate for most of the year. Food festivals, local carnivals and wine-tasting are abundant in this area of France, as people gather together to celebrate all that Provence has to offer. But dont go thinking that Provence is out of touch with the modern world! While it is home to a great number of sleepy villages and costal hamlets, big cities like Nice and Aix-en-Provence are known for their fashionable bars, cafés and shops. The area has a culturally rich heritage with artistic traditions, and as such is home to numerous art galleries, museums and music festivals. Provence proves popular with younger travellers looking to experience French culture, history and nightlife all in one place. Theres also the opportunity to enjoy world-class leisure activities, from mountain biking and climbing, right through to fishing, hiking and even skiing in the winter months.
The south of France is now easily accessible from the UK, thanks to the low-cost airlines operating from the international airports and Marseilles and Nice. The TGV train takes roughly 3 hours from Paris to Marseilles, and also serves stations at Toulon, Cannes and Nice. Driving from Calais to Marseilles will talk about 9.5 hours, as main routes can get very busy during the high summer season.

Previous season’s champions are tipped to lift the 2011/12 trophy based on the bookmakers odds. Man U won a record 19th English league title last season, the teams 12th under Sir Alex Ferguson. This year the team seems extremely formidable with, as ever, a great manager, great support and a combination of both experienced and young players, not to mention good form scoring 18 goals in their first four premiership games.
Great supportersMan Utd is one of, if not the best backed clubs in Europe. The club has a global fan base with over 200 officially recognised supporters clubs in at least 24 different countries.
A great manager Sir Alex Ferguson was hired manager in 1986, and put an end to a twenty-six year wait to win the premier league in 1993, since then Manchester United have won a further eleven league titles under his reign. Sir Alex, 69 is an extremely talented manager which is a huge advantage to the team, as he puts it, the most important man to Manchester United is the manager, which I am inclined to agree with. He claims as long as his health is in good condition he will continue for the foreseeable future, which can only be excellent news for supporters?
Mix of experienced and young playersBerbatov, Nani, Park Smalling, Fletcher and Rafael to name but a few, their summer signings also look very promising…Ashley Young – livewire forward, transferred from Aston Villa.David De Gea – signed from Atletico Madrid, David is an exceptionally talented Spanish 20 year old expected to be the replacement of Edwin van der Sar.Phil Jones – very promising young defender transferred from Blackburn.
So if I wanted to bet Manchester United will be outright winners in the premier league 2011/12, what are some of my choices?
Larger value free betPaddy Power offers odds of 5/4, which indicates if you stake £100 your estimated winnings are £225. Paddy Power offer a straight forward free bet of £50 for new customers. There are additional higher value free bets available but you have to place multiple bets at various amounts.
The old favouriteAt the time of composing William Hill offer odds of 5/4. This signifies if you placed a bet of £100 your estimated winnings would be £225. Also at the time of composing William Hill has a promo free bet of £25 for new customers.
Best odds (subject to change)Boylesport currently present odds of 13/10. This implies if you staked £100 you would receive back £230. At this time Boylesport offer a promotional free bet of £20 for new customers.
Closing statementThis season has only just begun and a great deal can happen, undoubtedly Man U are a strong team, yet they do have close competition from their rivals Manchester City. I predict it will be a superb season to follow. If you do decide to bet on an outright winner in the premier league, bear in mind you are in for a long wait till the bet is concluded.

Nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Beauty And The Beast is one of Disney’s greatest animated achievements. Its massive success reinvigorated the Disney animation juggernaut which had been dormant for decades, launching the release of smashing blockbusters such as Aladdin, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo. Taking home two Oscars for Best Music (Original Score and Original Song), the film launched a trend in Disney animation by blending musical numbers (with cartoon choreography), an aspect that would become a staple of film after film for the remainder of the decade. In short, Beauty And The Beast is a landmark production just as remarkable today as when it was first released…
Following the Disney tradition of transposing well-known fairy tales from the pages of a book to the sparkle of the big screen, Beauty And The Beast follows the life of Belle (Paige O’Hara), a beautiful bookworm maiden who captivates her town’s most eligible bachelor, Gaston (Richard White). Dissatisfied with life in her small French villa, Belle grows especially tired of the conceited and self-absorbed Gaston, who is unable to fathom the idea that Belle does not welcome his affections.
Meanwhile, The Beast lives in solitude in a long-ago abandoned castle, having had a spell cast upon him because of his inability to love. The spell turned the handsome prince into an ugly beast, and it turned all of his servants into dinnerware, candlesticks, and other inanimate objects. When Belle’s father, Maurice (Rex Everhart) makes a wrong turn, he inadvertently unites the lives of Belle and The Beast. After spending much time with Belle, the bitter and hardened Beast begins to soften. He and Belle fall in love, but Gaston and his fellow village marauders arrive at the castle walls and demand the return of Belle, threatening to kill The Beast…
The highlight of Beauty And The Beast is the musical number “Be Our Guest,” which features an entire dining hall filled with dancing teacups, plates, and eating utensils. The sequence forged the way for similar scenes in Aladdin (“A Whole New World”) and The Lion King (“Hakuna Matata”). Directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise not only create a perfect transition from song to story, but they also manage to introduce innumerable humorous lines into musical sequences, especially with the early song bandied about by the rival for Belle’s hand, Gaston.
One of the top films of all-time (that’s from any genre, not just animation), Beauty And The Beast remains one of Disney’s most heralded creations. It tells the classic love story of the beast with a good heart and does so with vivid characters, a world-class musical score, and animated visual images that would make Walt Disney proud. Critically acclaimed and extremely successful at the box office, Beauty And The Beast is a true blockbuster in the traditional sense of the word. An awe-inspiring film that launched a new generation of animated Disney masterpieces, Beauty And The Beast is the quintessential must-see film.
Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, is situated where three rivers merge – the Bassac, Tonle Sap, and Mekong rivers. The city has suffered from the ravages of many years of war yet you will still clearly see the charm of the colonialists and the early locals. You will see many French villas that made Phnom Penh a coveted city in Southeast Asia. There are also new developments that make the city at par with many cities of the world.
These are among the popular sites that are worthy of visit in Phnom Penh:
The Royal Palace
Built in 1866, the Royal Palace stands at the same place where the Citadel used to be, close to the Mekong River. The palace had many chambers for different purposes although you will have the opportunity to visit the Silver Pagoda. It was built under the direction of King Norodom.
The Silver Pagoda is located within the palace’s compound. The floor of the Pagoda was made of 5000 silver blocks, which give it the name. It is also known as the “Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha” because it houses an emerald Buddha statue that dates back to the 17th century. The statue was molded by using baccarat crystal. The frescos on its surrounding walls depicts some episodes of the Ramayana according to the Khmer.
The National Museum
This museum, which is close to the Royal Palace, will give you the opportunity to have more insight into early Khmer art. The handicrafts date back to the pre-Angkorean era and many of them are made of red sandstone. You will also find some modern art from the country to give you an idea of the progress that has been made over the centuries. The museum itself is of special interest, which is a traditional terra-cotta-roofed building that was constructed between 1917 and 1920. Many freetail bats have also converted it into their home. In fact the colony is so large that it is believed to be largest bat colony in the world that occupies a man-made structure. However, you will only see the bats in the evening as they live for their nocturnal food hunt.
Wat Phnom
This is the site of a stupa that holds the ashes of a 15th century king. It is built on top of an artificial hill that also features a small Buddhist Pagoda.
Tuol Sleng & Choeung Ek
Tuol Sleng is the site of a genocide museum that tells the horrors of the past Khmer Rouge regime. On their rise to power in 1975, the Khmer Rouge turned a high school into a torture and detention center, the Tuol sleng. It was also known as S-21 or security Prison 21. The museum features the building as the Khmer rouge left it during the Vietnamese invasion in 1979. You will see many pictures of the victims of torture here.
Another site that tells the chilling story is Choeung Ek, where most of the detainees were taken to, butchered and buried en-mass.
There are many other special destinations in the city, such as Mekong island, Koh Dach, Baset, Tonle Baty, Prasat Neang Khmao, Angkor Borei, and Phnom Tamao. These destinations will show different aspects of the city, from ancient ruins to animal sanctuaries.

For culture-filled France holidays, there may be few better destinations to visit than Arles.
Located in the south of the country, staying in holiday villas in Provence means you may be able to take in some fantastic art and ancient architecture.
Arles became an important city during the time of the Roman Empire – it was often used as a base for military campaigns – and much of the civilisation’s influence on the area can be seen to this day.
You will find the city is awash with architecture from this time, including the remains of an amphitheatre used for gladiator duels, Roman baths, cemeteries and a performing arts theatre. It is also possible to take a tour of subterranean structures built underneath ancient buildings.
To get a deeper understanding of Arles’ extensive history make sure you also visit the Musee Departemental de l’Arles Antiques.
The museum was built in 1995 and contains a wide range of artefacts uncovered by archaeologists working in the region.
Items dating between 2500 BC and 600 AD can be seen, with the exhibits including a statue of Roman emperor Augustus, Copper Age tools and sculptures depicting icons of Greek mythology.
If you’re seeking more modern culture head to the Musee Reattu. Located on the banks of the river Rhone, this museum contains several paintings and drawings by Pablo Picasso and as it contains a mixture of temporary exhibitions and permanent collections there is always bound to be something new for you to see.
Anyone with a passion for art is also likely to be aware of Vincent van Gogh’s association with Arles.
The Dutch painter arrived in the city in the late 1880s and it is here where he had one of his most productive artistic spells, completing some 200 paintings in the space of 18 months.
Arles is also the location of Van Gogh’s infamous argument with his friend and fellow artist Paul Gauguin, an incident which may have resulted in him chopping off part of his ear.
It is here that he created some of his most iconic works – including The Night Cafe and The Red Vineyard – and while none of his art was actually sold during his lifetime, it is now extremely valuable.
Seeking French villa rentals here could provide you with an insight into the scenes that inspired him, perfect if you’re a budding artist yourself.
Creative types should also check out Rencontres d’Arles, the city’s annual summer photography festival. Here you can go on workshops led by some of the world’s leading photographers, so whether you’re a novice or already an experienced snapper you may be able to pick up some tips about how to improve your pictures.
With so much art and culture to take in, a holiday to Arles is sure to prove a captivating experience.
Ho Chi Minh City formerly known as Saigon, locates at the heart of the southern part of Viet Nam, between the northern edge of the Mekong Delta and the South Eastern region of volcanic red soil. Being a transformation between the two terrains, Ho Chi Minh City is intertwined with natural forest, vast plains, long coast and hundreds of rivers and canals. The Saigon River winds around the city and connect it with the East Sea.
Over the past three centuries, Saigon, once praised as the “Pearl of the Orient”, was known as an important trade center for Chinese, Japanese and Western merchants. It had also been christened the “Paris of Asia” for its wide boulevards lined with the stately trees and magnificent French villas.
Nowadays, Ho Chi Minh City has a total area of 2,090 square kilometers, which encompasses 24 districts with an area of 230 square kilometers and five outer-counties with an area of 1,860 square kilometers. The city, which a total population of over seven millions, is the largest city in Viet Nam, a major hub for commercial, tourist, cultural and scientific activities.
This always-in-rush-hour city churns bubbles and fumes. The streets, where much of the city’s life takes place, are a myriad of street markets, shops, pavement cafes, stands-on-wheels and vendor selling wares spread out on sidewalk. Yet within the teeming metropolis are timeless traditions and beauty of an ancient culture. A mix of the old and new is witnessed where the skyscrapers are juxtaposed with faded French colonial buildings, where one would easily find something to entertain himself whether he wants to discover museums, pagodas, markets or just sipping coffee in a sidewalk cafes, chatting with fellow travelers, listening to thumping music.
A trip to Ho Chi Minh City offers you a good experience of warm emotions: the incredible pride and genuine warmth of its people, the richness of its culture, the depth of its tradition and the diversity of its landscape. You will be welcomed, celebrated, and made to feel like family. You will be greeted with smiles, waves and shouts of “hello!”.
Dynamic, bustling, crowded but liberal and friendly, Ho Chi Minh City has so much to offer to visitors.
Saigon climate & weather
Ho Chi Minh City has a pleasant tropical climate with two alternate seasons:dry and rainy. The dry season runs from November through April with average temperatures around 28oC and the rainy season from May through October. The rain, however, never last too long while the sun is not too hot.
Money and cost in Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam
Until recently, many upmarket hotels insisted that you pay in US dollars, but now all businesses (except Vietnam Airlines) must accept payment in dong. In practice, many still display their prices in US dollars. It’s advisable to bring travellers cheques in US dollars as well as a little US currency.
Currency
Name Vietnamese dong
The banknotes come in denominations of 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000, 200,000 and 500,000 dong. In small towns, it can be difficult to get change for the larger notes, so keep a stack of smaller bills handy. Now that Ho Chi Minh has been canonised (against his wishes), you’ll find his picture on every banknote.
Coins are being reintroduced for use in Vietnam, partially to help stave off the number of counterfeit banknotes. There are coins to the value of 1000, 2000 and 5000 dong.
Changing Your Money
There is now a reasonably extensive network of ATMs in major cities and this can be a convenient way to get your hands on money. It is also handy to have a combination of US dollars and travellers cheques for more remote or rural parts of the country. There are four ways to exchange currency: at a bank, through authorised exchange bureaus, at hotel reception desks, and on the black market. The best rates are offered by the banks, but the exchange bureaus are generally more conveniently located and have longer opening hours. The black market rate is worse than the legal exchange rate, so if you’re offered better rates than a bank it’s bound to be some sort of scam. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB credit cards are accepted in the major cities and towns popular with tourists.
It’s virtually impossible to exchange travellers cheques outside the major cities and tourist areas. Visitors heading off the beaten track will either need to stock up on dong, or conduct a private cash transaction on the black market. It’s a good idea to bring a small calculator with you for currency conversions, unless you’re the kind of person who can divide or multiply by large numbers in your head.
Money Tips
Travellers staying in budget accommodation and eating in small cafes should be able to get by on around US.00 to US.00 per day, plus long-distance transport costs. Those wanting to stay in mid-range hotels, eat out at moderate restaurants, charter occasional taxis and enjoy the nightlife should budget on around US.00 a day.
Tipping
Tipping is not expected in Vietnam, but it is enormously appreciated. For a person who earns US.00 per month, a US.00 tip is about half a day’s wages. Upmarket hotels and some restaurants may levy a 5% service charge, but this may not make it to the staff. If you stay a couple of days in the same hotel, tip the staff who clean your room, if you can.
You should also consider tipping drivers and guides – after all, the time they spend on the road with you means time away from home and family. Typically, travellers on minibus tours will pool together to collect a communal tip to be split between the guide and driver. About US.00 per day (per tourist) is standard.
It is considered proper to make a small donation at the end of a visit to a pagoda, especially if a monk has shown you around; most pagodas have contribution boxes for this purpose.
Shopping in Saigon Once you are in Ho Chi Minh City, you are spoilt for choice of shops. The city being a heaven for shoppers, offers a wide variety of items ranging from colorful handicraft items to tacky tourist junk well within your budget. Most of the shops stand in the center of the city. Some shops, which served as trendy Rue Catinat during the French colonial period, are found by the sides of Dong Khoi. If you cannot stop yourself from shopping in Ho Chi Minh City, be sure that you have at least some bargaining skills and good eyes to pick the right item from the endless supply. Frankly speaking, any item without a price tag can be bargained down to two thirds of its initially quoted price. However the major tourist shops in the city are fixed price shops. There are some areas in the city that can be designated as shopping zones namely Dong Khai and Le Thanh Ton at the back of Rex Hotel. Items displayed in the shops include amber, ceramics, antiques, jewelry, furniture, silk and apparel. Items such as boxes and vases made from lacquer ware are very popular among tourists visiting the city. The locals prefer hand-embroidered tablecloths and napkins. Rosewood boxes, bowls and Lacquerware are popular as gift items. The foreigners can purchase tax-free items from the duty-free shops located at the corner of Nguyen Hue and Le Loi. Perched high in the Southern Central Highlands amidst valleys, lakes and waterfalls, Vietnam’s Dalat is known for its mountain scenery and delightfully cool weather. Originally inhabited by the Lat and Ma hill tribes (Da Lat meaning “stream of the Lat People”), who now live in nearby Lat and Chicken Villages, Dalat became a holiday resort for commanders who tired of the tropical Vietnamese climate during the French Colonial era. It remains Vietnam’s “Le Petit Paris” and its “city of eternal spring”, its colonial mansions and over 2000 remaining French villas still reflecting its French influence.
Dalat has a lot to offer travelers interested in trekking, motorcycle trips and natural sights – its surrounding lakes, waterfalls, and parks offer boating and windsurfing. This is a great place to get to know Vietnam’s highlands.
Dalat is home to Emperor Bao Dai’s summer palaces. Built in 1933 and set in a lovely pine grove near Lake Xuan Huong, this art deco style palace houses portraits and sculptures, and royal living quarters of the deposed imperial family. Nearby, Lake Xuan Huong stretches for nearly 5 km., offering windsurfing and boating adventures, though long walks around the lake seem to be most popular.
Dalat features several interesting buildings and lovely pagodas, among them the Lin Phuoc Pagoda, a contemporary structure with a gold Buddha and a spectacular garden. The Hang Nga House and Gallery, nicknamed “crazy house” by locals, is probably one of its most fun sites, especially for youngsters. The house is designed with cave sitting rooms, a concrete giraffe tea room, helter- skelter hallways and stairways and fish heads containing guest rooms for overnight stays. Its bustling, lively central market is unlike most Vietnamese markets, characterized by a highly unusual open promenade for shoppers and passers-by.
Just out of town, a lovely park, Thung Lung Tinh Yeu Park, known as “The Valley of Love” is a popular spot for honeymooners and lovers who stroll through its paths or sail on its small lake. The region around Dalat is punctuated with coffee farms and colorful small villages. Lat Village and Chicken Village are home to several hill tribes who were enticed down from Dalat. Chicken Village, where peoples of the Koho minority reside, is famous for its giant concrete chicken, caught mid-strut, in the village center. In the highlands, there are opportunities to visit coffee farms, sing karaoke or just enjoy local drinks at some of the small inns perched on the valley’s hills.
Further afield, there is much to see and do for nature lovers. Several scenic waterfalls dot the area: Prenn Falls, located about 10 km. from Dalat, at the foot of the dramatic Prenn Pass, is a great spot for enjoying a brief hike, its breathtaking waterfalls cascading from above to create a silver sheet pouring into a pool below. Behind the falls, a bamboo bridge enables visitors to cross the waters. Gouganh Falls, some 40 km. from Dalat offers an amazing view of waters splitting at the center to create numerous falls, each streaming in a different direction. Lan Bien Mountain, its five volcanic peaks rising to 2100-2400 m., is a trekker’s dream, as is Tuyen Lake, known for its emerald green waters and backdrop of mountains.
Dalat and its off-the-beaten-path surroundings and many wonderful natural sights are very different from Vietnam’s popular coastal areas and are well worth the visit for the countless adventures and natural sights it has on offer.
Here are my favorite dining addresses in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
For street eats, Pho Bo (beef noodle soup), Bun Cha (grilled meat with dry noodles) and Banh Cuon (pho package with beef rolls) usually make good introduction to the local cuisine. For delicious pho eats, consider the ubiquitous Pho 24 which offers different varieties of the much-loved Vietnamese beef noodle. The popular Quan An Ngon makes a good introduction to Vietnamese cuisine with its scrumptious and inexpensive offering in a courtyard setting.
A classic Hanoi dish, Cha Ca – grilled fish with tumeric and usually served with rice noodles – is best savored on Cha Ca Street where this northern specialty dish originated at Cha Ca La Vong Restaurant. Highway 4 is a recommended stop for its complete dining experience with its delectable range of traditional Vietnamese liquor and specialty dishes. The skiing in the Southern Alps is often underestimated. The sun tends to shine more, it is warmer and the snow record is really good, and of course if you stay below the mountain you are in tantalising reach of the beaches of Cannes and Nice. This area is one of the few in the world where you can have a morning skiing and still get down to the beach for a late lunch in the sunshine!
The best known resort is Isola 2000 which as its name suggests is quite high at 2000 metres, and with some northern facing slopes, skiing can continue until the end of April some years. Against Isola is the fact that it is a purpose-built resort so often lacks the alpine charm one normally associates with skiing and it can be a nightmare of a place on New Years Eve when loads of undesirables from Nice and Marseilles book all the cheap accommodation and make a nuisance of themselves, but this is really limited to that one time.
Other nearby resorts include Auron, which is a bit smaller and slightly more charming. Further down the hill are several smaller resorts which can be very popular if conditions allow. Whilst Nice is 2 hours drive down the hill, some of the smaller resorts can be reached in under 90 minutes from the coast, which means that renting a villa in the hinterland of Cannes can give you opportunities to combine some skiing with more leisurely pursuits when the limbs get a bit tired, or the weather is slightly less clement. This of course is aimed at the fair weather skier, of which number I count myself! If the visibility gets poor then often it is still sunny at the coast, so lunch on the beach at one of the many restaurants in Cannes that remain open all year around can be a very nice distraction from getting cold on the mountain!
]]>
Of course, Cannes has other delights as well, not the least of which is the shopping and the restaurants of the old town which still buzz even in the depths of winter.
Greoliere Les Nieges is a small resort with a dozen lifts and maybe 20 runs, but it is within and hour and half drive from Cannes and although quite low at 1400-1800 metres, it has a great snow record and a daily pass is not much over 20 Euros. Many ex pats living between the mountains and the coast look at the weather in the morning and make an instant decision to go up skiing for the day.
The Val D’Allos is a little further inland with an even better snow record, in fact you are just about guaranteed snow in this resort, but perhaps a little too far from the coast if you wish to combine snow and sun. The resort of Limony just over the Italian border is also under 2 hours from Cannes and can give you a taste of skiing in Italy.
In an ideal world, one would rent a private villa in the area behind Cannes, where villages such as Valbonne, Mouans Sartoux , Le Rouret and Roquefort Les Pins are all still awake in wintertime, unlike much of rural France which can go to sleep from October to May. Valbonne in particular is buzzing at any time of the year, and for those mad sporting types, there are some excellent golf courses in the area, so what about ski, golf and sun holidays, that is a new concept!
Nice airport is the second busiest in France and thus has flights emanating from all over the UK including the four main London airports, so the best bet is to hire a car from there to drive to your villa, and let the holiday commence!
Koh Samui is the perfect place if you are looking for tropical peace and isolation – and as one of the fastest-growing holiday destinations in Thailand, there are more new villas for rent in Samui, accommodation in Samui and Thai vacation villas here than most other areas of the country. Even if you’ve been before, there will be hundreds of options you have never seen – here we look at the best of the best for the price in Koh Samui accommodation.
Despite the French name, Le Paradise Boutique Resort andSpa is a haven of traditional Thai wooden s tilt houses. Each of these Samui villas for rent is on an individual site, and the lush tropical paradise that Koh Samui is known for is retained around each of the luxury Samui villas. The beds are larger than king size, and while almost half of the rooms in this Samui luxury villa are reconstructed traditional Thai teak houses, the bathrooms and bedrooms are modern, with all the contemporary comforts. It is four and a half star comfort at three-star prices.
One of the most prized commodities on holiday is privacy, and the Motsamot Samui villa for rent, in the Laem area of the island, has plenty of that. It sleeps ten people, and yet with all of the Samui accommodation’s pristine landscaping, simple elegance and established natural seclusion, it currently costs only as much as a single suite in most Vegas, New York or London hotels. A broadband PC equipped with wifi is available for all guests at this luxury villa for rent in samui, home theatre, air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen and five private safes round out the amenities.

If value to you means budget accommodation, it doesn’t get much better, dollar for luxury point, than Lawana resort’s Koh Samui accommodation. For as much as one main meal at a Western restaurant, you have your own private bungalow, in a tropical forested area overlooking the ocean. Some of the bungalows have private pools, and the Samui villas themselves are conveniently located only 10 minutes from Samui International Airport.
Orchid Villa, a luxury Koh Samui villa for rent, sleeps 4 people at absolutely amazing prices in the off season. The Samui villa has a king size bed on the main floor and a queen size bed in the loft, and the villa itself is set impressively on the side of a mountain, with panoramic views. Bath outdoors in luxury overlooking the ocean, in the gorgeous year-round climate of Koh Samui. This Samui villa has all the modern conveniences, like ADSL connection, satellite TV, home theatre system, and basic food preparation facilities.
But for best value Koh Samui villas in the off season, it doesn’t get much better than Ban Reemo, which sleeps ten people in 5 private rooms, each with their own bedroom. The offseason price is currently (late 2008) nearly a quarter of the high season price, and highly affordable for five couples. The Samui villa is designer furnished, with an independent pavilion, an infinity edge swimming pool, as well as a private Finnish sauna for the use of guests. There are in-villa wine selections in this Samui villa for rent, as well as a full-time Thai chef – bliss!

It originates from an idea started in Bordeaux, and the French organiser of that festival, Marc Laforet (a pianist featuring in the 2 July concert), has enlisted musicians, vineyard owners, classic Tuscan Villa owners, the Tuscany tourist board and many others to bring about what he believes will be a truly great musical and oenological explosion consisting of six concerts, each to be followed by a wine tasting of the the local production, with canapés. It starts with a programme of Chopin and Liszt at the Teatro Verdi in Florence on Tuesday 28 June which will be performed by Yulianna Avdeeva, a Russian pianist who is only the third woman ever to win the prestigious Warsaw Chopin competition.
The second is to be performed by Argentinian pianist Nelson Goerner at Villa Le Corti dei Principi Corsini near San Casciano Val di Pesa, not far from Florence. This is probably amongst the most spectacular of all the venues, and if the concert appeals you can stay at any of these Dolce Vita Villas which are nearby: Poggio al Noce, Poggio al Sole, Villa San Donato, La Chiantigiana, Montesassi, and Villa Rossetti.
The Corsini family makes a particularly good Chianti Classico and Vin Santo -try to sample these after the concert. On 2 July Marc Foret duets with Segej Kryov, moving the focus to Rocca di Frassinello near Gavorrano. Try the Baffonero wine afterwards if you can – voted the best wine in Italy by some. Also good is the Monteregio di Massa Marittima. Foret’s programme consists of Bach, Franck and Chopin, amongst others. Nearby villas to book are: Villa della Pia, Borgo della Pia, Il Mandrione, Poggio del Barbiere, Casale Sole, and Lotto 82. On 4 July, Gautier Capuçon plays Brahms, Schumann and Grieg at Villa Fanini near Lucca. Try these villas for a great place to stay: Il Treto, La Segreta, Il Cigno, Villa Magna and Lake como rentals.
On 6 July Emmanuel Rossfelder will be playing a programme of Spanish guitar music, including Tarrega, Albeniz and Villa Lobos at Castello Banfi – Montalcino. While there, take a look at the museum of wine and glass in the castle. You shouldn’t leave without tasting the Rosso di Montalcino and of course the magnificent Brunello di Montalcino. Nearby villas are: La Fuga, Villa dell’Abate, Villa di Campalto, Le Lucere, Borgo Bandini, and Villas In Tuscany.
The final concert is at Villa Rocca di Montemassi and will consist of a piano recital by Giovanni Bellucci, playing Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt. The Villa Rocca di Montemassi is close to Rocca di Frassinello (2 July) so you can use the same list of villas as above. Further information and tickets for all the concerts are available from the web site

If you are a Murcia apartment of villa owner, choosing the correct advertising venue for your property can be a difficult choice. All Murcia property owners realise that their property is an investment, and all investments require investigation.
Whether you have a one-bed apartment or a few large luxury villas with private pools to start renting, deciding between self-advertising your property or letting an agent take care of it all very much depends on your own priorities and capabilities.
Would you like to be a hands-on or a hands-off owner? Would you like to take 100% of the booking fee profit or pay commission to enable someone else handle it all? Depending on the type of owner you are, the key is finding out exactly which option offers you the most in terms of your own priorities.
One very popular area of Spain is a haven for villa owners: Murcia, Spain boasts a year-round warm, sunny climate, beautiful beaches and an abundance of activities for families and groups looking for an unforgettable holiday. Polaris World have built a variety of golfing resorts such as La Torre, Mar Menor and El Valle in and around the Murcia area; all resorts offer luxury villas to rent with private pools, first-class golfing facilities and conveniences such as bars, restaurants and supermarkets. With the news of Paramount Pictures building a new theme park in Murcia, this destination is sure to be a massive hit for family holiday makers. Murcia is starting to stand out as one of the most exciting and affordable holiday rentals destinations in Europe, drawing interest from tourists and villa owners alike.

If you are a Murcia villa owner and want to start bringing in holiday rentals, you may be considering listing your villa or apartment with a specialist agent to maximise holiday bookings. There are many advantages to listing your villa with an agent. Specialist agents are, of course, specialists; the agent will handle all of the time-consuming administrational duties such as bookings, phone calls and contracts and be able to converse in English, Spanish and French. A good agent will advertise your villa using top online marketing techniques and will be able to advise you as to how to take the best photographs of your villa and what you should be charging in terms of rental fees or facilities.
The agent also looks after all the financial aspects of your villa bookings. Booking deposits, security deposits and full payable amounts are paid to the agent directly from the customer. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of a Murcia villa agent is their expert ability to handle complaints. If there are any problems with the villa, the agent is the first port of call. The agent also will coordinate with your key holders and cleaners to ensure easy transitions between bookings. For these services, agents typically charge between 10-15% for each villa rental booking.
The alternative is to self-advertise your villa in Murcia, with the obvious advantage of taking home 100% of your rental booking fee. An increasing number of Murcia villa owners are choosing to advertise their Murcia villas online, with a range of affordable packages available offered by holiday rental specialists providing an expert platform on which to advertise Murica villas to rent. It’s incredibly cost effective to advertise your Murcia villa online, with prices starting from as little as £69.99 per year with some of the more specialist and smaller agencies.
The process is as simple as choosing your self-advertising package, popping in your property information, uploading your photos and getting contracts and rental instructions in order. If you have a reliable key holder, a good cleaner and you ensure your villa is in good order, this is the perfect option for you. Keeping on top of your villa is paramount to feeling confident that tourists booking your villa will enjoy their holiday. Paying particular attention to maintenance, paying utility bills and cleanliness is very important, as is keeping informed of local news and events.
So weigh up your own pros and cons before embarking on renting your Murcia villa holiday rental property, not every option is the right one for everyone; make sure you choose the one to suit you.
